Membership
As you can see from the information on our website, iask is an organization that was started out of necessity to fill a critical void in the lives of Professional Black Women. However, women and men of all races are encouraged to join us in our critical mission, as this is not just a "black issue"; it is truly an issue of national concern.
We have been enormously blessed to attract corporate supporters, women's health organizations, non-profits, foundations, clinicians, and individual men and women of all races who support the mission of iask. We also have a National Male Advisory Board, which consists of men from across the country that will work with us to strengthen the dialogue between black men and women in a way that is positive, practical, uplifting and spiritual. In short, we are women and men from all across the United States with varied backgrounds and life experiences who want to help professional black women (PBW) take better care of themselves emotionally, physically, financially, relationally, and spiritually. The simple truth is that while many of PBW are flourishing in our careers, many of us lack joy and peace in our personal lives; we are over stressed, over worked and worn out physically by all of life's demands. The core requirement for membership in iask beyond a commitment to our vision and mission is that you sign our unity pledge (see link on this page). The unity pledge says that we as "sisters" commit to treat our fellow sisters with genuine respect, kindness, and civility and that if we cannot do so; we are subject to dismal from the organization. We are truly invested in creating a place for women that is rooted in friendship, forgiveness, love, and support. There are no perfect people, and at iask we don't expect you to be, because we are not. In fact, or goal is to embrace the imperfect, love the unlovable, and to help women reach their full potential by focusing on taking care of themselves first. Your financial membership in iask, Inc. will help us to successfully grow a business that will publish, promote, and provide products, services, and charitable activities (through the ASK Foundation, our 501(c)(3)) to thousands of women nationwide. The money we receive from memberships will go toward our new advanced/enhanced website development (www.iaskinc.org) and to help us maintain our membership software/secure iask, Inc. intranet (see www.collectivex.com) as well as for overall IT/Domain maintenance, our programs/committees, and our members who routinely need and seek our financial, emotional, spiritual, relational or other support. To date since 2004, we have helped and assisted directly over 120 women and men and their families with financial support, prayer, counsel, visits, encouragement in the form of calls, one on one visits, cards, care packages, flowers, etc. We also make sure that when our members have serious diseases like Cancer or lose loved ones that we send cards, make calls, take food, send flowers, or offer small financial gifts to charities that are often set-up by the family of the deceased. We have contributed to the welfare and maintenance of our nation's Troops serving in Iraq through the USO, and other anonymous gestures to families in need.
